Din Safari is a veteran electric and upright bassist in the Singapore music industry. A long-time contributor to the music scene in Singapore, he backed vocal doyen Anita Sarawak for six years. After that, he joined local pop music bands Eurasia then Back2Back. He is the pioneering bassist with one of Singapore’s top bands, Jive Talkin’, holding a band residency at the Hard Rock Cafe in Singapore and Jakarta for many years. He took a sabbatical to hone his bass craft by enrolling at the Players School of Music in Clearwater, Florida, where he graduated with a performance diploma. In 2006, he also attended renowned bassist Victor Wooten’s Music Nature Camp in Nashville, Tennessee. He rejoined Jive Talkin’ and continued to be the bassist for several years. Din is also a bass sessionist who has recorded and performed with many local artists. As an educator, he founded the Rhythm & Groove Music Camp to provide the youth with proper bass-playing techniques.
